Woman ‘Mistakenly’ Shot Dead By Gov Okowa’s New Security Outfit

An officer of the newly launched security outfit in Delta State, Operation Delta Hawk, has reportedly killed a woman accidentally.

The incident happened on Tuesday in Asaba, tje Delta State capital, reports Channels TV.

The report said the unidentified woman was hit by a stray bullet by the road side where she was selling.

Officers of the Operation Delta Hawk were reportedly chasing two young men in a car when one of them opened fire and hit the wrong target.

The young men were said to be driving a car without a plate number and were stopped by the officers, but refused to stop.

THE WHISTLER recalls that Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, had inaugurated the security outfit about 12 days ago (December 11.)

The outfit comprises operatives from various security agencies, amongst others.

Okowa had tasked the outfit with the responsibility to check cultism, kidnapping, banditry and other crimes in the state.

“…we pray that this baby grows very fast to become very effective such that we all will be proud of what we have put together.

“We are at a time in our nation where there is a lot of insecurity, even the state government and the various security agencies are doing their best, we still have a lot of challenges,” the governor had said.
