Woman Sets Sister, Sibling’s Husband, Children Ablaze Over Inherited Property

A woman identified simply as Imole, has allegedly set her sister, the sister’s husband and their children on fire over argument on property bequeathed the enraged woman and her siblings.

Imole reportedly invaded the apartment where the sister and her family lived in the Idimu area of Lagos to carry out the wicked act.

The victims were said to be asleep when Imole allegedly stormed the room where they were and poured fuel on them while striking a match to set the place on fire.

The fleeing suspect was said to have earlier had an argument with the sister over the property handed over to them by their late father .

Doctors at Alimosho General Hospital were said to have battled to save the lives of the victims.

Our correspondent gathered that Imole reportedly visited her elder sister on Dupeolu Street at the Pipeline area of Idimu on Friday to demand that the four rooms be shared equally between them.

But her sister was said to have declined, offering her one room, as she was said to have explained to her that their father had another wife and the children of the other wife would also take two rooms.

A heated argument, according to some of their neighbours, ensued between the siblings, at the end of which Imole was pacified and left.

However, at midnight, she was alleged to have returned to the building, and tore the window net of the apartment occupied by her sister, husband and two children.

Neighbours said the screaming for help from the burning victims woke them up and they rushed to the scene to help them.

A resident however said that Imole was mentally unstable. He alleged that she fled the scene, immediately after setting the apartment on fire.

The matter was said to have been reported at the Idinu Police Station and policemen who came recovered a match box and a jerry can which the suspect allegedly used to convey the fuel to the place.

The resident said the family and the police had begun searching for the suspect

The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State, Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for comment as at the time of filing this report..

Also, the reaction to the message sent to him was still being awaited.
