World Cup 2026: FIFA Begins Inspection Tour Of North America

World football governing body, FIFA has launched a five-day inspection tour of the United States, Canada and Mexico.

FIFA revealed on Monday that its evaluation committee will kick off its North American visit in Mexico City.

Recall that the North American nations had submitted a joint bid for the hosting rights of the 23rd FIFA World Cup scheduled to take place in 2026.

The FIFA delegation will inspect an array of proposed facilities for the 2026 World Cup, including stadiums, training facilities and potential team base camps.

FIFA officials will visit Atlanta, Toronto, New York and New Jersey during the trip, which wraps up on Friday.

Morocco is the only nation standing alone against the US-Mexico-Canada bid.

The North African nation had submitted its bid for the fifth time to host the World Cup, having also tried for the 1994, 1998, 2006 and 2010 tournaments.

Delegates from different countries making up the FIFA Congress, will cast their ballots in Moscow on June 13, to approve one of the bid.
