South Africa President, Ramaphosa Says Xenophobic Attacks Must ‘Stop Immediately’

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa has condemned the recent xenophobic attacks on foreign nationals in some parts of the country.

Ramaphosa took to his Twitter handle to express his displeasure over the incident.

He said the attacks on “foreign nationals is something totally unacceptable, something that we cannot allow to happen in South Africa.

“I want it to stop immediately. There is no justification for the violence,” he concluded.

South Africans on Sunday began fresh attacks, looting and burning of properties belonging to foreigners in Johannesburg.

At least three people were killed in the renewed attacks, while an injured person is still receiving treatment for smoke inhalation, the President of the Nigeria Union South Africa (NUSA), Adetola Olubajo, said on Monday.

Mr Olubajo said the attacks began on Sunday morning in Jeppestown area of Johannesburg when a building was set ablaze by an angry mob.
