Yari And I Not Defecting To PDP, Marafa Quashes Defection Rumours

Factional leader of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara state, Senator Kabiru Marafa has quashed defection rumours that he had dumped the party alongside a former governor of Zamfara State, Mr Abdul’aziz Yari, describing it as “wishful thinking of minions”

Marafa, who’s now an political adversary of Mr Bello Muhammad Matawalle, the governor of the state since the latter defected from the PDP to the APC, has vowed to stay in the party and rather push out those he described as enemy of the people.
The trouble between the pair has polarised the party in the state without legally organised State Congress thus risking similar experience of 2019 when the party could not field any candidate for elections.

There were rumours that following the intervention from former Senate President, Mr Bukola Saraki, who was in the 8th Senate together with Marafa, had decided to decamp to the PDP.

But Marafa said that was far from the truth, insisting that “we are senior engineers and architects in the project team that designed, built and maintained APC from inception to date

“This is the wishful thinking of the minions parading themselves as the new owners of APC today. We are senior engineers and architects in the project team that designed, built and maintained APC from the beginning to date.

“We are not going to leave the complex in the hands of those who were laborers, masons, plumbers and carpenters in the design and construction days, NO WAY!!

“We are not going anywhere. Emir no de go transfer,” he said.

However, political associates and an aide to the senator revealed to sources that the senator might migrate to the PDP just like Matawalle did in 2019 provided he can be guaranteed the governorship or senatorial ticket in 2023.
