You Won’t Believe This! Nigeria To Become 14th Largest Economy By 2050

In 33 years from now, Nigeria is expected to become the 14th largest economy in the world, while the United States would drop to third, in an unprecedented move for over 100 years.

PricewaterCopper (PwC) in a report, The Long View: How Will The Global Economic Order Change By 2050?” identified 32 economies around the world which will be the biggest and most powerful by 2050.

The 32 countries are ranked by their projected global gross domestic product by purchasing power parity (PPP).

According to the ranking, China will lead with a combined PPP of $58.499trillion, followed by India in second place with $44.128 trillion and the United States with $34.102 trillion at third.

Nigeria, Egypt and South Africa are the African countries on the ranking. Nigeria is at No. 14 with a projected PPP of $4.348 trillion, Egypt with a PPP of $4.333 trillion is at No. 15 and South Africa at No. 27 with a projected PPP of $2.570 trillion.

PPP is used by macroeconomists to determine the economic productivity and standards of living among countries across a certain time period.
