‘Your Victory Signifies Purposeful Leadership’ — Minister Hails Ogbeche’s Re-election As NUJ FCT Chair

The Federal Capital Territory minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, has described the recent re-election of Emmanuel Ogbeche as chairman of the FCT chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) as proof that he delivered “purposeful leadership” during his first term.

Bello noted that Ogbeche broke a two-decade one term jinx when he was re-elected as the council chairman on Saturday.

Ogbeche had polled 450 of the 518 votes cast to defeat Donald Ugwu of the News Agency of Nigeria who scored 59 votes during the election held at the Jabbi secretariat of the NUJ FCT.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Anthony Ogunleye, the minister said he welcomed the pledge by the council chairman to work with the Federal Capital Territory Administration to realize the objectives of “a city that works for all”.

He congratulated other elected executives and the council for the peaceful conduct of the election.

Ogunleye said Bello pledged “the continuous support of the FCT Administration to the NUJ especially in the collective bid of both organisations for entrenching good governance and the principles of democracy in the country”
