Zaria Shi’ite Clash: Army Lobbies Human Rghts Groups

Following the uproar that greeted the killings of members of Nigeria Islamic Movement, the Shi’ites sect, in Zaria, Kaduna State by soldiers attached to the convey of Chief of Army Staff, Tukuru Buratai, ‎the army authority is reportedly lobbying members of the human rights family.

This lobbying, it was gathered, is for them to shift the blame on the military for using maximum force on arm-less civilians to the condemnation of the nuisance constituted by members of the sect who block major road and terrorise people living within their locality.

The military authority had immediately after the clash two weeks ago, petitioned the National Human Rights Commission, to investigate the alleged rights abuses by the Zaria based movement.

The Kaduna State government has equally instituted a commission of inquiry into the Zaria incident.

A member of human right group disclosed the military were disturbed by flood of criticisms against it by members of the public.
