Appeal Court Rules Against Death Sentence For Singer Charged With Blasphemy

An Appeal Court sitting in Kano has set aside the judgement by an Upper Sharia Court against a Singer, Yahya Sharif Aminu who was prosecuted for allegedly blaspheming Islam.

The Presiding judge, Justice Nuradeen Sagir, who is the state Chief Judge as well as his Co-panelist, Justice Nasiru Saminu, faulted the court’s judgment saying it was full of irregularities.

Furthermore, the court observed that Aminu was not given fair trial.
