Abia ADC Elects New Chairman, Suspends Publicity Secretary, Others

The Abia State Executive Committee of the Africa Democratic Coalition (ADC) has elected Chief Emole Onwuasoanya as its new Chairman, following the suspension of Don Norman Obinna.

Obinna was suspended as chairman on August 22.

The party also suspended Publicity Secretary Chiamaka Peters, Woman Leader Nwannedoga Okpan, and Chief Whip Chibuike Emmanuel for alleged anti-party activities and failure to perform their duties.

The election which took place in Umuahia on Tuesday evening was moderated by Organizing Secretary Ugochukwu Nwaubani, who criticized the absence of past acting Chairman Mazi Kanu O Kanu and State Secretary Uche Ndom, blaming them for disrupting the previous meeting.

The state NEC cited Article 22, Section 12, Subsection 3 of the party’s constitution for the decision to suspend them.
