Abia Govt Unveils Key Initiatives In Healthcare, Electricity, Others

The Abia State Government has announced several key initiatives aimed at improving the lives of its citizens.

The commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the weekly executive meeting with the Governor.

In health sector, he announced that the government has employed 649 medical personnel, including 432 nurses, to work in
primary health care centers across the state.

“The Governor’s mission for the state’s health sector is to provide quality healthcare services to citizens, and we are working towards achieving this goal,” he added.

The administration has attracted top medical talent, including a neurosurgeon, a rare skill in medical practice.

“We are committed to attracting and retaining the best medical professionals to improve healthcare outcomes in Abia State,” Kanu said.

The commissioner also announced that The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission has ordered the regularization of electricity activities in the state, with ASERA issuing an order for quicker resolution of consumer complaints and stronger consumer protection.

“This move is expected to improve the delivery of electricity services to citizens,” he added.

The State Ministry of Housing is constructing a Civil Service Commission housing estate and partnering with private developers for affordable housing projects.

“We are committed to providing quality and affordable housing to our citizens, this initiative will provide opportunities for citizens to own homes and we are working with private developers to ensure the success of this project,” Kanu said.

The state government is also enforcing directives to remove shanties and illegal projections in buildings, and advising landlords to carry out routine maintenance on their properties.

“We are committed to making Abia State a beautiful and livable place, so we urge citizens to support our efforts and work together to build a better future for our state,” Kanu said.
