The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Kenneth Kalu, has announced that he would be embarking on a leave of absence following the Governor’s approval.
Speaking during a special interaction with staff at the SSG’s Office, Professor Kalu expressed deep appreciation to the staff for their unwavering support in advancing Governor Alex Otti’s developmental vision throughout his tenure as SSG.
He used the opportunity to commend the staff for their commitment and urged them to continue to see themselves as active contributors to the transformation of the state.
Prof. Kalu emphasized that every staff member is a key player in building a functional and progressive government and charged them to uphold the values of honesty, sincerity, and dedication in their daily responsibilities. “Success doesn’t come by chance; it is achieved through consistent hard work and integrity,” he noted.
Professor Kalu formally introduced the newly appointed Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Meribole, and called on the staff to extend full cooperation and support to him to ensure the continued success of the office.
In his response, Dr. Meribole thanked Prof. Kalu for setting a strong leadership foundation and assured that he would sustain the pace while working with the staff as a team to achieve measurable progress in line with the Governor’s vision.

Delivering the vote of thanks, the Permanent Secretary office of the SSG, Dr. Godwin Okezue, commended Prof. Kalu for his impactful service, particularly in providing a befitting office complex, and pledged to uphold his legacy, He also assured the Acting SSG of the staff’s maximum cooperation.
Also Speaking, the Chairman of Staff Welfare Scheme, Mr. Wachukwu Onyekachi, praised Prof. Kalu’s leadership style and affirmed the staff’s readiness to support the Acting SSG.
