Ahmed Musa Condemns Kano Pillars Fans’ Attack On Shooting Stars

Kano Pillars General Manager, Ahmed Musa, has berated the club’s fans for attacking Shooting Stars players and officials, while also apologising to the Ibadan-based club.

It was a chaotic finish at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano after Shooting Stars equalised in the closing moments of the encounter before the home fans invaded the pitch to attack the visitors with players sustaining varying degrees of injuries.

The supporters were enraged by the referee’s decision to award Kano Pillars a penalty in the encounter and the late goal the team conceded in the 94th minute.

The referee, and Shooting Stars players, officials had to scamper for safety, however, Ismail Ayodele and Adams Agba’a, were assaulted in the chaos.

Ahmed Musa condemned the fans’ behaviour while promising to prosecute those found wanting in a statement released on Monday.

The statement read: “I, Ahmed Musa, the General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club, extend my deepest and most sincere apologies for the unfortunate, painful, and disgraceful incident that occurred during our game against Shooting Stars Sports Club on Sunday evening.

“What transpired against Shooting Stars is heartbreaking, shameful, and completely unacceptable. It does not represent the true values, identity, or the proud history of Kano Pillars.

“This club has always stood for community, passion, and respect, values that must never be overshadowed by violence or indiscipline. As a club with deep roots and loyal supporters, we are expected to set an example of fairness and honour on and off the pitch. Sadly, today, we fell far short of that standard,”

The former Super Eagles captain apologised to Shooting Stars players, and officials, the match officials, and the organisers of the league.

He said: “Once again, on behalf of Kano Pillars Football Club, I offer my most heartfelt and unreserved apology to everyone affected. To the NPFL, to Shooting Stars, to the referees, to the fans of Nigerian football, and to anyone who believes in the spirit of the game, we are sorry. I am sorry.”

The result leaves Kano Pillars in the 17th position with eight points from seven matches while Shooting Stars occupy the fifth position with 12 points from the same number of matches.
