The Ogun State Government has expressed sorrow over a fatal road crash involving world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, which claimed the lives of two persons along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday around the Makun axis of the expressway in Ogun State.
Joshua was said to be travelling from Lagos to Sagamu alongside three other individuals when the vehicle conveying them rammed into a stationary truck.
Preliminary reports indicate that two male foreign nationals died on the spot as a result of the crash. Their remains have been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu.
Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were rescued by security operatives attached to his convoy and taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
The sport utility vehicle involved in the accident was severely damaged and has since been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division (MTD) office.
