The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee (NWC) has announced the dissolution of its Enugu State Executive Committee and the constitution of a new caretaker committee to steer the affairs of the party in the state.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Duro Meseko, during a press briefing on the outcome of the 179th meeting of the NWC held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
Meseko, who addressed the media alongside Otunba Durotolu Bankole, National Leader of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in the APC, said the decision was taken in the overall interest of peace, progress, and stability within the party in Enugu State.
“The NWC decided that in the interest of progress, peace, stability, and tranquility of the APC in Enugu State, the State Working Committee, also known as the State Executive Committee, stands dissolved,” Meseko disclosed.
He added that a seven-man caretaker committee has been put in place to oversee the party’s activities in the state pending further directives from the national leadership.
The new caretaker committee is chaired by Dr. Ben Nwoye, with Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo as secretary.

Other members include Mrs. Fidelia Njoe Eze, Comrade Peter Chime, Dr. Mrs. Obie Aji, Dr. Chidoze Mwafo, and Engr. Iman Eke.
According to Meseko, the committee will be inaugurated at the NWC Secretariat on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10 a.m.
Also, the NWC deliberated on the screening report for the upcoming APC governorship primaries and cleared incumbent Governor Abiodun Oyebanji and Mrs. Atinuke Oluremi Omolayo to contest in the primaries.
However, two other aspirants — Engr. Kayode Ojo and Mrs. Abimbola Olajumoke Olawunmi, were disqualified for failing to meet the requirements of the party’s constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.
“Their disqualification was predicated on the fact that they did not conform with the provisions of the constitution of the party and the extant provisions of the Electoral Act,” Meseko clarified.

He further disclosed that the APC Reconciliation Committee, headed by former Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, will soon be inaugurated, with the date to be announced shortly.
Furthermore, Meseko revealed that a timetable for party congresses at the ward, local government, and state levels will be released soon.
He also announced that the APC Constitution Amendment Committee will commence public hearings within the month of October, serving as precursors to the formal amendment process.
“The process for the amendment of our constitution will take effect very shortly. Within the next one week, public hearings will begin as precursors to the main amendments to be done,” he said.
On forthcoming elections, Meseko noted that the Anambra APC National Campaign Committee will soon be inaugurated, while preparations are underway for the Osun governorship election, including the commencement of sales of forms for aspirants on October 20.
Meseko further reaffirmed the NWC’s commitment to upholding internal democracy, fairness, and unity within the party across all states.
