Arsenal Will Learn From Manchester United Defeat, Says Arteta

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has revealed that the team will learn from the shock 3-2 to Manchester United to continue their Premier League title pursuit.

The Gunners suffered their first home defeat of the season at the Emirates Stadium after a disappointing performance against a rejuvenated Manchester United side.

Arteta’s side would have moved seven points clear at the top with a win at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, but they squandered the chance to consolidate their title charge.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu, and Matheus Cunha handed the visitors the maximum points.

The result was a dent in Arsenal’s Premier League title dreams with the team now winless in three matches.

Arteta admitted the team was not at their usual level in the game while promising the players will learn from the defeat in a statement on the club’s website.

He said: “The margins are extremely small and we made them even smaller. Now we have to react and see what we are made of.

“We were not at our level and we paid the price. We just gave it away.

“We gave them a goal which is unusual and painful, then they had two brilliant moments with incredible goals. We were not at our best.

“In the first 30 minutes we were in total control, scoring a goal, but after that so many times we gave the ball away in important areas. We started to lose control and dominance and it became a chaotic game.”

The Spanish manager praised his players for their performances in the past.

Arteta concluded: “The players have given us so much joy and performances, they deserve to be reminded how good they are.

“We have to learn from it. Defeats are part of winning and you have to take them and remind the players how good they are. When you draw or don’t win and lose, that’s when you have to show togetherness and unity.

“To get where we want to be, defeats are part of that for us, as for any team.”

Arsenal will hope to bounce back from the defeat when they take on Leeds United on Saturday in the Premier League.
