ASOPADEC Donates Food Items, Cash To PWDs In Abia
Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has donated food items, baby clothing, beverages, toiletries and cash to persons with disabilities in Ukwa West LGA, Ahiaeke and Ngwa Road Motherless Homes in Umuahia and Aba in Abia State.
Speaking at Obehie, Ukwa West LGA during a visit to persons with disabilities, the General Manager of the Commission, Dr Joshua Onyeike, said that the donations were powered by the State Governor, Dr Alex Otti who he describes as a leader that has the interest of the oil producing areas including the physically challenged at heart and assured that the Commission will not relent in giving the welfare of the physically challenged priority attention.

The ASOPADEC General Manager who was represented by the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs Amarachi Isaac-Nwachukwu pointed out that the Commission has embarked on several intervention activities in the oil producing communities to include construction and reconstruction of roads, civic center and halls, school blocks, hospital and market stalls, distribution of Agric inputs etc called for sustained support and loyalty of the people to the present administration.
At Ahiaeke Umuahia North and Ngwa Road Aba motherless Babies Homes, the representative of the General Manager, Mrs Isaac- Nwachukwu said that the donations were in continuation of the Commission’s passion for the less privileged aimed at complementing the love and care the state Governor Dr. Alex Otti has for the children of the inmates and appreciated the managers of the Homes for their commitment to humanitarian works.
In his response, the leader of the Joint Association of Persons with Disabilities in Ukwa West LGA, Mr John Ndudim, expressed gratitude to the Governor,Dr. Alex Otti and the ASOPADEC General Manager, Dr Joshua Onyike, thanked the Governor for finding the General Manager fit to serve in the Commission and requested more inclusiveness in the intervention activities of the Commission.
Also speaking, Rev. Sister Lauretta and Mr Ugbusu of Ahiaeke and Ngwa road motherless Babies Homes applauded the Commission and the Governor for remembering them through the donations
Highlights of the occasion were donations of food items, beverages,toiletories,baby clothings, and cash, while the children at Ahiaeke Homes rendered Thanksgiving songs.
