Edo CP Decorates 42 Police Officers With New Ranks

The Commissioner of Police in Edo, Mr Monday Agbonika, has decorated 42 officers, recently promoted to higher ranks in various units and formations in the command.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this to newsmen in Benin on Wednesday.

Ikoedem noted that three Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) were promoted and decorated with the ranks of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), while 39 Superintendents of Police (SP) rose to the ranks of CSP.

While congratulating the officers, she said that CP Agbonika described their promotion as well deserved and urged them to see their new ranks as “a call to higher responsibility, discipline, professionalism and renewed commitment to service.”

The police chief said that promotion came with increased public trust and accountability, adding that the officers must uphold core values of the Police Force, respect human rights and remain resolute in protecting lives and property in the State.

“The confidence reposed in you must be justified through integrity, professionalism and dedication to duty,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, ACP Matthew Kalu expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Police Service Commission, and the state Police Command for the trust placed in them.

Kalu assured the police leadership that the promoted officers would justify the confidence reposed in them, and discharge their responsibilities diligently.

She explained that the decoration ceremony was followed by the command’s end-of-month conference, where the CP reviewed the security situation in the state.

While assessing the operational performance for the month, the CP also issued strategic directives to Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of tactical units.
