FCTA Admits Health Service Gaps, Endorses Tech-Based Solutions

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has admitted that there are gaps in the delivery of healthcare services in Abuja and has endorsed the use of technology-based solutions to help address the challenges.

Speaking on Saturday at the launch of a new mobile health application designed to connect users with verified doctors and provide access to reliable medical information in real time, the Mandate Secretary for Health and Environment, Dr. Adedolapo Fasawa—represented by Dr. Abubakar Ahmadu—said deploying digital tools could help resolve delays, improve access, and ensure better quality of care.

“The deployment of tech-based approaches would help to arrest delays, lack of access and issues relating to quality as it connects real patients with real doctors,” he said.

“For us in the health services and environment Secretariat, we also recognize that there are limitations in the health services in the FCT,” Fasawa admitted. “And so as time goes on, we’ll be looking at those limitations.”

He further assured that the administration would continue to collaborate with innovators and stakeholders to improve service delivery. “Ours is to collaborate, to partner and see how we can improve healthcare services and other partnerships that will help us drive healthcare services in the federal capital territory forward,” he said.

The new application, Koyo Navigate, was developed by Koyo HealthTech Ltd. According to its founder, Dr. Tom Cracknell, the launch in Nigeria is a deliberate investment in the health future of Africa.

“The launch of the Koyo Navigate App in Nigeria is not just a market entry; it is an investment in the future health of Africans,” Cracknell explained.

“We chose Nigeria as our flagship market because we recognize the extraordinary potential here, coupled with the critical need for verified services.

“Our goal is to empower users with reliable information—the knowledge that they are connecting with professionals whose credentials have been rigorously checked.”
