FG To Improve Road Projects Monitoring, Execution In 2026 — Umahi

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has said that his ministry would embark on a phase of strategic recalibration to maximise outcomes in road construction and rehabilitation across Nigeria in 2026.

Umahi, who disclosed this in his New Year message on Thursday, explained that the ministry would refocus its operational mechanisms to ensure faster project execution, stronger supervision, and measurable impact across federal road projects nationwide.

According to him, the new year presents an opportunity to consolidate the gains recorded under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the area of road infrastructure development.

He said: “For us in the Federal Ministry of Works, the new year is a time to recalibrate our mechanisms towards achieving maximum impact on the Renewed Hope Agenda on road infrastructure revolution.

“It is a time to step up monitoring mechanisms and supervision geared towards accelerating the construction of the Renewed Hope legacy projects as well as the rehabilitation of existing federal roads nationwide.”

The minister also assured Nigerians that the year would be characterised by intensified project monitoring, improved coordination, and faster delivery timelines.

Umahi also praised Tinubu’s leadership, attributing progress in the road sector to ongoing policy reforms, innovative funding models, and increased private sector participation, which he described as critical to achieving sustainable infrastructure development.

The minister urged staff of the Federal Ministry of Works to remain united, committed and optimistic in delivering on the ministry’s mandate, and wished Nigerians a peaceful and prosperous 2026.
