FIFA has officially introduced three mascots for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, unveiling Clutch, Zayu, and Maple at a global press event on September 24.
The announcement marks the first time in the tournament’s history that three mascots will represent the competition, reflecting its first-ever three-nation hosting arrangement between the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the mascots during the launch, describing them as symbols designed to “bring joy, energy, and the spirit of togetherness” to millions of fans worldwide.
Their debut was accompanied by an animated video showing the characters playing together on a virtual pitch, emphasizing the theme of collaboration ahead of the expanded 48-team, 104-match tournament.
Each mascot represents a host country and a specific football role. Clutch, a midfielder, embodies the United States and carries a name that draws from American sports culture.
Zayu, a striker inspired by the jaguar, represents Mexico and highlights the country’s footballing tradition and cultural heritage.

Maple, a moose goalkeeper, symbolizes Canada, underlining the country’s growing ambition in international football.
The three characters form a symbolic team of midfielder, striker, and goalkeeper. According to FIFA, this combination was chosen to illustrate both the partnership of the host nations and the World Cup’s broader theme of unity.
Beyond serving as mascots, Clutch, Zayu, and Maple will feature prominently in FIFA’s engagement strategy. They will appear on official merchandise, including clothing, toys, and collectibles.
The trio will also be integrated into digital platforms, such as the upcoming FIFA Heroes arcade-style video game and the FIFA Super League Soccer experience on Roblox, aimed at younger audiences.
During the tournament, the mascots are expected to be central figures at stadium events, fan zones, and promotional activities in all 16 host cities, from the opening match at Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca to the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
