Group Champions Sustained Power Rotation In Enugu State

The Enugu State Unity Forum (EUF) has canvassed for a sustained power rotation of elective offices in the state for the sake of equity, fairness, and peace.

The group stated this during its sensitization and mobilization campaign held for the Enugu North Senatorial District on Monday. The group declared its support for the re-election of Governor Peter Mbah in 2027 to complete the guber zoning arrangement allotted to the Enugu East Senatorial Zone of the state.

The forum’s Coordinator, Mr Ikechukwu Ibenekwu, during the inauguration of the Enugu North Senatorial District chapter of EUF at the Nsukka Local Government Secretariat, said the forum was made up of adult residents of Enugu State passionate about equity and justice.

According to him, “EUF is composed of people from various backgrounds, including political, professional, religious, and community sectors, market people, among others.

“For those of us in Enugu North, our primary target is to initiate a grassroots mobilization and sensitization across the local government areas and political wards in the zone to garner support for the governor.

“The governor has taken the state to the next level with his people-oriented and inclusive governance, touching and reactivating every sector of the state’s economy simultaneously. So, what this Forum is doing is to reciprocate his good gestures by mobilizing support for him,” he stated.

Speaking also, the council chairmen of the six LGAs in Enugu North commended the initiators of the forum for championing good governance.

The Chairman of Nsukka LGA, Mr Jude Asogwa, said that Gov Peter Mbah’s developmental initiatives in all the state’s 260 political wards had armed Mbah and APC supporters in the zone with bragging rights ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said, “Many projects are going on simultaneously in the three senatorial zones today because our governor does not discriminate in his developmental agenda in the state.”

The traditional ruler of the Nkpunano community, Nsukka LGA, Igwe Patrick Okoro, on behalf of the traditional rulers of the zone, affirmed their commitment to the zoning principles of elective positions in the state.

Igwe Okoro said, “All traditional rulers in the zone are solidly behind Mbah’s second tenure because he has done marvellously well in his first tenure.”

The event witnessed the inauguration of Enugu North Senatorial District, local government areas, and ward executives of the Enugu State Unity Forum.

There were also prayers for peace in the state during the event.
