IGP Orders Tactical Deployment As Police Confirm Kajuru Abduction

The Nigeria Police Force confirmed an abduction incident occurred at Kurmin Wali community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following hours of conflicting reports that sparked fear and uncertainty among residents.

The confirmation came after security agencies conducted further verification amid disputes over the incident at a meeting of the Kaduna State Security Council convened by Governor Uba Sani at the Government House in Kaduna.

Police sources said “some individuals from the affected local government area had challenged the initial report, describing it as false, a development that prompted caution by security agencies before issuing definitive public statements.”

The Force clarified that comments earlier made by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, were misinterpreted as a denial of the incident.

According to the police, “The remarks were intended to calm public nerves while officers on the ground confirmed the number and identities of those affected.”

Following confirmation from operational units and intelligence sources, the police activated joint security operations with other agencies, focusing on the safe rescue of the victims and the restoration of normalcy in the area.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of tactical and intelligence assets to Kajuru and neighbouring communities, including intensified patrols and targeted search-and-rescue operations.

The police urged the public and the media to rely on official updates and avoid speculation that could undermine ongoing operations or escalate tension.

The Force said it “remains committed to protecting lives and property and will provide updates as the situation develops.”
