Jake Paul Lands In Hospital After Defeat To Anthony Joshua

Jake Paul has confirmed his jaw was broken in two places during his defeat to Anthony Joshua in Miami.

He was dropped to the canvas three times on his way to a round six knockout by Joshua in Miami on Friday night.

Paul did not face the media at the post-fight press conference as he sought treatment for the injury.

However, Nikisa Bidarian, CEO of Paul’s promoters Most Valuable Promotions confirmed that he suffered a broken jaw.

He said: “He’s fine. He drove himself to the hospital. A broken jaw is very common in sports, particularly in boxing or MMA.

“I think the recovery time from the doctors and surgeons we’ve already talked to is four to six weeks.”

Joshua landed 48 of 146 punches (32.9%), with 31 of those punches landing in Rounds 5 and 6. Paul landed 16 of 56 punches (28.6%), including none in the sixth round.

Paul admitted that he was the second best in the encounter, while also confirming he suffered a broken jaw in the bout.

He said: “I think my jaw is broken by the way. It’s definitely broke. Man that was good. Nice little a-whopping from one of the best to ever do it. I love this s— and I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt.

“We will heal the broken jaw, come back and fight people my weight. I’m going for the cruiserweight world title. I’m going to take a little break. I’ve been going hard for six years.”

Meanwhile, Anthony Joshua admitted that he was not at his best despite emerging victorious in the bout.

He said: “It wasn’t the best performance. The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down, and hurt him. That has been the request and that was on my mind. Took a bit longer than expected but the right hand found the destination.

“Jake Paul has done really well tonight, I want to give him his props. He got up, time and time again. It was difficult there for him, but he kept on trying to find a way through.

“You have to give Jake his respect for trying, trying and trying. But he came up against a real fighter tonight that had a 15-month lay-off.”

The British boxer reiterated his desire to fight Tyson Fury in 2026.

Joshua said: “I can’t wait to go into 2026. If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on his gloves, and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there then I’ll take on the challenge. Step in the ring with me next if you’re a real bad boy.”
