Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has warned the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf and his other associates against dumping the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
According to him, dumping the ANPP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) amounts to a betrayal that will end in political failure in the long term.
Kwankwaso sounded the warning in the backdrop of reports indicating that Governor Yusuf and some of his supporters have concluded plans to defect to the APC.
Describing the defection as a betrayal of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Kwankwaso urged home s followers to remain loyal and learn from historical examples of those who left the party.
The Kwankwasiyya Movement is a political force, founded by the former governor and has been dominating local politics in Kano for some years now.

He recalled that individuals who dumped the movement at different points from 1999, succeeded in recording temporary gains, but lost political relevance over time.
“Some of you have decided to cross the line to go to the other side. If you know them, advise them that nobody in this country or elsewhere has ever succeeded with betrayal, it doesn’t work that way,” he warned his followers in a video that has gone viral.
The Kano strongman encouraged members of the NNPP to reflect on the party’s history and learn a lesson, stressing that personal experience can be a costly teacher in politics.
He told his followers that loyalty to the movement ensures political stability and continuity, adding that betrayal breeds uncertainty.
The former governor enjoined his followers to advise those who might be contemplating leaving the party that the interest of the group outweighs personal ambitions.
