Kyrgios Handed Wildcard For ATP Brisbane Tour

Nick Kyrgios has been handed a wildcard to participate at the Brisbane International ATP tour in January.

The Australian is set to play his first ATP match in ten months after battling with injuries in 2025.

He was restricted to just five singles matches in 2025, the last of which was a second-round defeat to Karen Khachanov at the Miami Open in March.

He will mark his return to full fitness with a clash against Aryna Sabalenka in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match on 28 December.

The 30-year-old will also compete in the Kooyong Classic warm-up exhibition event in ‍Melbourne in January as he works towards a potential return to the Australian Open.

Kyrgios has suffered a string of serious injuries in recent years and has seen his world ranking drop to 673.

He has no protected ranking so will also need a wildcard to compete at the first Grand Slam of 2026.

The former Wimbledon finalist has played just one Grand Slam match since 2022 – a first-round defeat by Britain’s Jacob Fearnley at Melbourne Park in January.

Kyrgios has won seven ATP Tour singles titles, including the 2019 and 2022 Washington Open, and reached eleven finals, most notably a major final at the 2022 Wimbledon Championships.

In doubles, Kyrgios has a career-high ranking of world No. 11, achieved on 7 November 2022, winning a major doubles title at the 2022 Australian Open while partnering with Thanasi Kokkinakis.
