He averaged 24.4 points per game last season, and he is also the top scorer in NBA history.

James is looking forward to the start of the new NBA season, admitting that the end is coming ‘a lot sooner than later’ for his illustrious career.

He said, “I’m excited about today. I’m excited about the opportunity to be able to play the game that I love for another season.

“However, the journey plays out this year, I’m super-invested because I don’t know when the end is. I know it’s a lot sooner than later.

“It’s pretty cool to know how many miles I’ve got and still be able to play at a high level. For me, age is kind of just a number, but it is reality, too.

“You look at the history of the game; there have not been many guys at my age, especially going into year 23, that have been able to play at a level like that. I just try not to take it for granted and just try to give the game as much as I can and inspire whoever I can.”

James is also grateful for another year of playing alongside his oldest son, Bronny, a backup point guard for the Lakers.

He said, “I’m not waiting on Bryce. I don’t know what his timeline is. He’s his own young man now. He’s down in Tucson. We’ll see what happens this year and next year. He has his own timeline, I’ve got my timeline, and I don’t know if they quite match up. We’ll see.”

James started his career in the NBA, and he has gone on to set numerous records and win all the trophies available in the sport.

He is the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and has won four NBA championships from 10 NBA Finals appearances, having made eight consecutive appearances between 2011 and 2018.

He also won the inaugural NBA Cup in 2023 with the Lakers and has won three Olympic gold medals as a member of the U.S. national team.

James holds several individual honours, including four NBA MVP awards, four Finals MVP awards, the Rookie of the Year award, three All-Star Game MVP awards, the inaugural NBA Cup MVP, and the Olympics MVP in the 2024 Summer Olympics.

A record 21-time All-Star and 21-time All-NBA selection (including a record 13 First Team selections), he has also made six All-Defensive Teams.

James is the oldest active player in the NBA; he is tied with Vince Carter for the most seasons played and holds the record for the most minutes played in the league’s history.
