MTN Rewards Kano Youths With N11m At Empowerment Event

MTN Nigeria has awarded more than N11 million in cash prizes to customers and young entrepreneurs in Kano during the northern debut of its youth engagement programme, The Gathering on 100.

The event attracted over 4,000 participants from gaming, fashion, music, dance, beauty, and entrepreneurship communities, providing a platform for networking, creativity, and innovation.

Speaking at the event, MTN’s Senior Manager for Sales, Northeast Region, Abu-Sufyan Aliyu, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting Nigerian youths and celebrating their talents across different regions.

He noted that the programme, which has previously been held in Lagos, Enugu, and Aba, is designed to inspire young people to pursue their ambitions while connecting with like-minded innovators.

A major highlight was the Pitchathon 100 competition, where three entrepreneurs won N2.5 million, N1.5 million, and N1 million respectively to grow their businesses. Winners in dance, gaming, painting, and board game contests also received cash prizes ranging from N200,000 to N500,000.

MTN Brand and Communication Support Analyst, Onyebuchi Ukwuegbu, said the event was tailored around the interests of young people, with activities and entertainment selected based on feedback from participants.

She added that the Kano edition reaffirmed MTN’s commitment to creating opportunities that empower youths through innovation, collaboration, and self-expression.
