NCS Hails Police For Protecting Prisons During Free Kanu Protests

The Controller of Correctional Services, Abia State Command, Nwanyanwu Blessing Ifeoma, has commended the Nigeria Police for the presence of policemen at the Custodial Centres during the “Free Mazi Nnamdi Kanu” protest on 20th October, 2025.

Nwanyanwu made the commendation when she visited the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, on Wednesday to further consolidate the existing synergy between the two agencies.

This meeting underscores the commitment to enhancing cooperation in maintaining public safety and managing correctional facilities efficiently.

During the visit, both leaders discussed key areas of collaboration, including improved security measures, the rehabilitation of inmates, and the sharing of resources and intelligence to ensure the safety of both correctional facilities and the community at large.

“We recognise that the effective management of correctional services is crucial for our society’s overall safety,” said the Controller.

“By working closely with the Nigerian police, we can foster an environment that promotes rehabilitation and reduces recidivism.”

Responding, the Commissioner of Police emphasised the need for a united front that is essential to addressing the complexities of crime and rehabilitation.

“Together, we can create a safer environment for everyone in Abia State and the country at large,” he stated.
