NEMA Rescues 13 From Collapsed Lagos Building

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has rescued 13 people from the rubble of a two-storey building that collapsed at 49 Coates Street, by Cemetery, off Oyingbo Road in Lagos State.

The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Monday.

NEMA’s Lagos Operations Office said it “immediately mobilised stakeholders while deploying rescue personnel to the site for prompt response.”

In a statement on Monday, the agency confirmed that the rescued persons have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute Metta, for medical attention.

“Search and rescue operations are still ongoing to comb the rubble for any other persons who may be trapped beneath the debris,” the statement read.

NEMA noted that rescue efforts are being coordinated with other key agencies, including the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the Nigeria Police, the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
