Nigerian Troops Arrest Sudanese Terror Suspect

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Sudanese national suspected of having links to terrorist groups during a security operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Musa Fashir, was arrested on Saturday by troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion in Lassa, Dille General Area.

Military authorities said preliminary intelligence indicates that Fashir is a foreign terrorist fighter who may have collaborated with insurgents operating in the North East.

The troops also arrested a 36-year-old woman, Mary Florence, who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from Ghana.

Security officials said her identity and the circumstances surrounding her presence in the area are under investigation.

Both suspects are in military custody and are being interrogated as investigators work to establish their identities and determine whether they have links to terrorist or transnational criminal networks.

Operation HADIN KAI said the arrests were made during ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at disrupting terrorist activities and preventing the infiltration of foreign fighters into the region.

Military authorities urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with credible information to strengthen counter-terrorism operations.

“Members of the public are encouraged to sustain there support by providing timely and credible information to security agencies,as collective vigilance remains critical to the restoration of lasting peace, security and stability in the north-east,” he added.
