The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a pre-enrolment portal to simplify the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process and reduce congestion at enrolment centres across the country.
In a post on its official X handle on Friday, the commission said the portal allows applicants to securely submit their personal details, upload required documents and schedule appointments online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture.
According to NIMC, the initiative is designed to reduce long waiting times, improve data accuracy and ensure a smoother and more efficient registration experience for Nigerians.
The Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Dr Kayode Adegoke, explained that the new digital platform enables prospective applicants, both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora, to complete their biodata capture online ahead of physical enrolment.
“The Pre-Enrolment Portal allows applicants to capture and submit their biodata online before visiting enrolment centres for biometric capture, thereby reducing congestion and long queues nationwide,” Adegoke said.
NIMC noted that the introduction of the portal reflects its commitment to delivering efficient, secure and citizen-friendly digital identity services, while making NIN registration more accessible and convenient.

The Commission added that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, which prioritises digital transformation, efficient public service delivery and inclusive national development.
Speaking on the development, the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, said the portal would simplify the enrolment process by allowing applicants to complete a significant portion of their registration online before physical biometric capture.
“The portal is designed to ease the enrolment process by enabling applicants to handle most of their registration online, leaving only biometric capture to be completed at the enrolment centre,” she said.
Key features of the portal include online capture and management of NIN biodata, appointment scheduling to minimise delays at enrolment centres and direct data entry by applicants to enhance data accuracy.
The platform also ensures secure and confidential handling of user information, supports seamless upload of required documents and improves overall operational efficiency, the Commission said.
