The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has disclosed that power generation across Nigeria has improved following the successful repair and restoration of the vandalised Lagos–Escravos–Lagos gas supply infrastructure.
NISO stated that the restoration was carried out by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC), alongside enhanced gas supply to several key thermal power plants nationwide.

NISO had assured Nigerians on Tuesday night that electricity supply across the country would improve within the next 24 to 48 hours.
It stated that repairs on the vandalised Escravos–Lagos Gas Pipeline (ELP) are near completion.
THE WHISTLER recalls that the drop in power supply followed an explosion on the Escravos–Lagos Gas Pipeline (ELP), compounded by acts of vandalism on critical gas infrastructure, which disrupted gas supply to several thermal power plants across the country.

But NISO in a statement issued on Friday night in Abuja
said the development marks a positive step toward stabilising electricity supply and strengthening the reliability of the national grid.
According to the system operator, affected power plants have commenced gradual power offtake to ensure a smooth recovery process.
The phased approach, NISO explained, is designed to prevent stress on both the gas supply network and the electricity grid, while maintaining operational stability.
The operator also disclosed that several other thermal power plants remain on standby, awaiting confirmation of gas supply from their respective suppliers.
It is assured that the plants are expected to be integrated into the national grid between now and Saturday, December 27, 2025, once gas availability is confirmed, further boosting generation capacity and reducing the risk of outages.

NISO stated that it is working closely with power generation companies, gas suppliers, and regulatory authorities to monitor the situation and resolve operational challenges in real time.
“The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) is pleased to announce a notable improvement in power generation following the repair and restoration of the vandalised Lagos-Escravos-Lagos gas supply infrastructure by the Nigerian Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) and the enhancement of gas supply to several key thermal power plants across the country.
“This development is a positive step toward stabilising the electricity supply and improving grid reliability for consumers nationwide.
“Currently, gradual power offtake is being carried out by the affected plants to ensure a smooth recovery and maintain the stability of both the gas supply network and the national electricity grid.
“This measured approach is aimed at preventing system stress and ensuring a reliable supply of electricity to meet the needs of industries, businesses, and
