The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Nyesom Wike, said there is no reversal on the decision to “restore power to the people of Rivers State” in the 2027 general elections.
Wike made the declaration on Wednesday during a ‘thank you’ visit to Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he addressed supporters and party faithful.
According to the minister, the resolve forms part of a broader political decision that includes supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election for a second term and correcting what he described as a leadership mistake at the state level in Rivers.
“There is no going back. We are prepared, we have made a decision and we are not going back. I want you to be strong. Nobody will intimidate us,” Wike said.
He stressed that financial inducement or pressure would not derail the plan, adding, “No amount of money will change our course. We have done it before and we are going to do it again.”
Wike accused some political leaders in the state of betraying the trust reposed in them by the people, noting that greed, ingratitude, and the misuse of power often lead to political downfall.

The former Rivers governor said the visit was to appreciate the people of Eleme for their steadfast support for President Tinubu, assuring them that their loyalty had not been taken for granted.
“In spite of all the troubles, Tinubu decided that a South-South person should be the Minister of the FCT. It has never happened before,” he said.
He also highlighted infrastructural developments in the area, noting that such progress had not been witnessed in the past until the Tinubu administration.
Earlier, the member representing Eleme Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chief Aforji Igwe, described Wike as “fair, just, and a man of integrity,” pledging the continued support of the Eleme people to the minister.
Similarly, the Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Chief Obarilormate Ollor, commended Wike for his infrastructural interventions in the area during his tenure as governor of Rivers State.

Ollor assured the minister of the people’s loyalty, saying they were ready to follow his political direction, noting that while the community was already aware of his directive regarding President Tinubu’s re-election, they were awaiting guidance on the 2027 governorship contest.
