Super Eagles new captain Wilfred Ndidi has revealed that he is not under pressure leading players at the Nations Cup after replacing William Troost-Ekong.
Ndidi was named the team’s captain following the retirement of former captain, William Troost-Ekong.
He led the team out for the Nations Cup opener against Tanzania on Tuesday, which ended 2-1 in favour of Nigeria.
The Besiktas midfielder said he is enjoying the support of the senior players in the team in his new role.
Ndidi said: “There is no pressure at all. I have so many leaders in the team. The senior boys are solidly behind me.

“It was a sad one missing out on the World Cup, but this is another opportunity. Another day, another opportunity to correct the wrongs, put smiles on the faces of Nigerians, and make the country proud once again.
“It’s not going to be an easy task, but we’re really up for it.”
Ndidi made his debut for Nigeria against DR Congo in 205, and he has gone on to make 72 appearances for the team.
The Super Eagles will return to action against Tunisia on Saturday.
