NSCDC Decorates 216 Newly Promoted Officers In Anambra, Emphasises Discipline

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has decorated 216 newly promoted officers following the 2025 promotion exercise, charging them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and ethical conduct in the discharge of their duties.

The decoration ceremony was held on Wednesday, at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka, and attracted senior officers, invited guests, and family members of the promoted personnel.

Speaking at the event, the Anambra State Commandant, Maku Olatunde, described the promotions as a recognition of dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to national service, stressing that elevation in rank comes with greater responsibility.

“This promotion is not just a change in rank or title; it is a recognition of your sacrifices, professionalism, and contributions to the Corps,” Olatunde said.

“You are expected to justify the confidence reposed in you through discipline, accountability, and exemplary leadership,” he charged the officers.

The Commandant commended the officers for their courage and resilience in protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, noting that their efforts have contributed significantly to internal security and public safety in the state and beyond.

He urged the newly promoted officers to lead by example and mentor junior personnel, emphasizing that leadership within the Corps must be anchored on integrity and service.

“As you assume higher responsibilities, you must uphold the highest ethical standards and provide guidance to those under your command,” he added.

“Your conduct must reflect the values and professionalism of the NSCDC,” he warned the officers.

Olatunde expressed confidence that the officers’ renewed zeal and enhanced capacity would further strengthen the Corps’ mandate, assuring that the command remains committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Oni Simeon expressed gratitude to the NSCDC management and reaffirmed the officers’ commitment to service.

“We assure you of our renewed commitment to integrity, service excellence, and loyalty to the Nigerian nation.”

The ceremony also featured goodwill messages and words of advice from invited guests, who urged the officers to embrace humility, responsibility, and accountability as hallmarks of leadership.

Among those promoted to the rank of Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) are DCC Simeon Oni, Area Commander, Area E Aguata; DCC Blessing Agu, Head of Anti-Fraud Unit; DCC Nnenna Kalu, Head of Planning, Research and Statistics Department; and DCC Ebere Nwufor, Head of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.

Officers promoted from Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) to Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) include ACC Anaekwe Chinyere, Divisional Officer, Onitsha North, and ACC Nwankwo Chikwado of the Administration Department.

Those elevated from Superintendent of Corps (SC) to Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC) include Queen Nweke, Divisional Officer, Njikoka Local Government Area; Emmanuel Nwaneri of the Training Department; Nweze Anthony, Unit Commander, Government House Awka; Ikenna Nwokedi, Head of Special Duties Unit; and Agu Chidiebere, Divisional Officer, Aguata LGA, among others.
