NUPRC Appoints Akinkuotu As Head Of Media Communications

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has appointed award-winning journalist, Eniola Akinkuotu, as its new Head of Media and Strategic Communications.

His appointment takes effect from August 8, 2025, according to a statement released by the Commission.

Akinkuotu, a seasoned media professional with over 15 years of experience, joins the Commission from The Africa Report, a Paris-based publication under the Jeune Afrique Media Group, where he served as Head of Politics in Abuja.

He is also widely known for his commentary on Nigerian politics as a regular analyst on Arise Television and contributor on Channels Television.

He began his journalism career at The PUNCH Newspaper, where he rose through the ranks from Correspondent to Associate Editor and eventually Head of the Abuja Bureau. Over the years, Akinkuotu led several editorial desks including the breaking news and special investigations unit.

He has reported extensively on a wide range of beats such as politics, crime, business, foreign affairs, agriculture, health, education, and the judiciary.

A recipient of the prestigious Diamond Award for Media Excellence (DAME) and a nominee for the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA), Akinkuotu is widely respected for his professionalism, investigative rigor, and depth of analysis.

He holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos and has participated in numerous trainings, conferences, and workshops both locally and internationally, enriching his professional acumen.

The Commission described his appointment as a strategic move aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement, enhancing communication efficiency, and reinforcing public trust in the regulatory body.

In a statement, the Executive Commissioner for Corporate Services and Administration, Dr. Kelechi Onyeka Ofoegbu, said the appointment underscores NUPRC’s renewed commitment to effective and transparent communication in line with its regulatory mandate.

“His appointment underscores the Commission’s renewed commitment effective stakeholder engagement, strategic communication, and public trust,” the Commission said.
