The Ogun State Government has accused opposition politicians of attempting to discredit the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun through false claims about the state of roads in some parts of the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, in a statement on Tuesday, said contrary to insinuations that the government had abandoned certain areas, the administration is executing road projects across all three senatorial districts to ensure even development.
He noted that the government is currently working on four major highways in the Ifo–Sango–Ota–Idiroko axis, while several other roads have been completed within the same corridor.
Akinmade listed some of the completed projects to include Ikorita Meta–Adenrele/Olose Titus Vespa Road, Old Bank Road–Orita Meta–Coker Junction–Olumo Spur Road, Olusegun Osoba–Toyin–Agbado Road, Sango–Ota–Oke Aro–Ojodu Abiodun Road (Phases 1 and 6), Akute–Denro–Ishasi Road, and Atan–Lusada–Marogbo Toll Road, among others.
He added that the Ota–Itele–Lafenwa Road, which has generated public outcry on social media, has already been captured in the proposed 2026 budget for reconstruction.

According to him, the administration’s goal is to ensure that no part of the state is left behind, despite limited resources and the huge infrastructure deficit inherited in 2019.
“While recognizing the rights of the good people of Ogun State to continue to demand for the dividends of democracy, the government warned the public to be wary of the antics of opposition politicians and their quest to call a dog a bad name in order to hang it,” Akinmade said.
“In its determination to run a transparent and people-driven government, the Dapo Abiodun led administration will never fail to respond to public scrutiny. However, we are not unaware of the ongoing move by political detractors to tarnish the image of the government by whipping up unnecessary incitements.
“The road in question, like many others in the Sango-Ota axis, had been in that deplorable state for many years before the coming of Governor Abiodun. They are part of the huge infrastructure deficit inherited by this administration in 2019.”
