Okpebholo, Army Forge Stronger Front Against Insecurity In Edo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has restated his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state, promising continued cooperation and support for the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.

He made the remarks on Thursday while receiving the new Commander of the 4 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Olatunboju Balogun, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House.

Okpebholo assured the new commander of the state government’s readiness to sustain and deepen collaboration with the Army in tackling insecurity.

The governor urged the Brigade Commander to notify the state of any operational needs requiring intervention, noting that work is already ongoing in some of the identified areas.

Okpebholo also disclosed plans to boost security surveillance through technology.

“In the area of drones, we are procuring multifunctional ones with good capabilities. Very soon, we will deliver on that. I want you to help us secure a new Edo, free from insecurity,” the governor added.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Balogun said he considered it important to formally notify the governor of the change in command soon after taking over the 4 Brigade.

The new commander commended the governor for his administration’s support of the brigade.

Balogun said he would build on the cooperation enjoyed by his predecessor.

“My predecessor spoke highly of the support received from the Edo State Government, which has greatly aided our professional duty.

“I will build on this cooperation and take it to the next level. My passion is to work towards making Edo State safer, ensuring citizens sleep with both eyes closed and go about their businesses without fear,” he added.
