Otti Restates Pledge To Revive Strategic Industries, Create Jobs

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has said his government is addressing unemployment by reviving key industries in the State.

Governor Otti stated this at Ngwa High School, Aba, during the 2025 Ngwa Day Celebration, with the theme “Ngwaness: Umunna Ehila”, organised by Ngwa Social Club, a Socio-Cultural group in the 7 Ngwa LGAs in Abia State.

Governor Otti, who explained that he is prioritising job creation and security in the State through the revival of moribund industries to sustain the State’s ongoing transformation, disclosed that, he is currently in discussions with the Lebanese to revitalise Aba Textile Mill, adding that, another discussion is ongoing about international glass industry and Meturlogical plant.

In a statement signed by the chief press secretary to Governor Otti Njoku Ukoha Njoku the Governor enjoined the people to remain patient, assuring them of more transformations across different sectors as the government works to reposition the State.

He commended the choice of the State’s first Attorney-General, Chief Theo Nkire as the newly appointed leader of the Ngwa nation, and congratulated Chief Nkire on his emergence, describing it as a well-deserved honour and expressed his full support for the decision.

The State Chief Executive also commended Ngwa leaders for participating in the cultural day celebration and stressed the need to preserve Ngwa cultural heritage.

Gov. Alex Otti used the opportunity to disclose that the first leader of the Ngwa people, Chief Jaja Wachukwu, would be honoured on January 1st, 2026 by the Abia government with a celebration of his 108th posthumous birthday at Nsulu, and invited them to attend.

In their good will massages, Senator Enyinaya Abaribe, Senator Augustine Akobundu ,
Senator Nkechi Nworgu jointly expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for finding time out of his very busy schedule to personally attend the occasion.

They described the Governor’s presence as a strong show of leadership, humility, and respect for the people, and applauded the Governor for his numerous achievements across the State, noting that his administration has recorded remarkable progress in infrastructural development, human capital advancement, and overall governance.

Contributing, a former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chief Chidi Ajaegbu, while describing the event as an opportunity for the Ngwa people to showcase their rich cultural heritage, commended the organisers for its success.

He noted that in less than three years, Abia State has witnessed significant transformation in various sectors and called on the people of Ngwa to continue to support the Governor in order for him to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.

The Chairman of the Occasion, Chief Orjinta Alala, while addressing the people said that the event also provided an opportunity for the people of Ngwa land to select a leader who would speak for them and articulate their collective position on issues of concern, as the Ngwa people had observed one year of mourning for their former leader, late Dr Emmanuel Adaelu, and had now resolved to appoint Chief Theo Nkire as their new leader.
