Otti Urges Nigerians Not To Lose Hope At 65th Independence

The Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has congratulated the people of Nigeria on the occasion of the country’s 65th independence anniversary.

Speaking at a ceremony on Wednesday to mark the occasion, Governor Otti thanked all those who have contributed to the country’s journey so far, acknowledging the sacrifices made by many.

“We may not have been where we want to be, but the truth is that we are certainly where we used to be.

“So while we strive and work hard to get to that ultimate destination, none of us should lose hope,” he said.

The Governor urged Nigerians not to give up despite the challenging economic circumstances facing the country.

“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do, so I challenge our people not to give up, because the best is yet to come,” Otti said.

Dr. Otti also highlighted the progress made in Abia State since his administration took office 28 months ago.

“If you look around the state, you’ll definitely agree with us that our schools are wearing new looks, more teachers have been deployed to the schools. and our hospitals are being functionalized, primary health care centers,” he said.

The Governor emphasized the importance of security, urging citizens to take an active role in reporting suspicious activities to the authorities.

“If you see something, say something, Call the Nigerian police, the DSS, the Army, Just call security agencies. Or call me. We don’t sleep. And the reason we don’t sleep is so that you can sleep,” he said.

Dr. Otti thanked the people of Abia State for their support and security agencies for their dedication to duty.

“I can assure you that the service commanders that God blessed us with in the state are very hardworking and dedicated people,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including Senator Darlington Nwokocha, Hon. Ginger Onwusigwe, and Hon. Dennis Chinwendu Rowland, who praised the Governor’s achievements and expressed confidence in his reelection in 2027.
