Oyo Begins Mandatory Revalidation For Outdoor Advertisers

The Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA) has launched a compulsory revalidation exercise for all third-party outdoor advertising practitioners operating within the state.

The initiative was announced by OYSAA Director-General, Oludolapo Esho, in a statement issued on Thursday and endorsed by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade.

According to Esho, the revalidation is part of the agency’s strategic efforts to establish a comprehensive and digitalised database of all signage and billboard assets in Oyo State.

He noted that the exercise is aligned with OYSAA’s transition to a digital platform approved by the agency.

“The exercise is intended to streamline regulatory oversight, improve transparency and accountability, and enhance the agency’s service delivery,” Esho stated.

He stated that all registered outdoor advertising practitioners are now required to appear at the agency’s office at the State Secretariat in Ibadan to update their credentials.

He said, “The State Government has mandated that all registered practitioners should appear at the agency’s office, Secretariat, Ibadan to update their company’s credentials for accurate confirmation of location approval and tagging off all billboards under the management of the agency.”

This he said includes confirming location approvals and tagging all billboards under OYSAA’s management.

Esho stressed that the revalidation is mandatory and must be completed within the stipulated time frame.

“The revalidation exercise is mandatory for all outdoor practitioners with no options with the stipulated time frame. Non-compliance of the exercise attracts immediate deregistration of such billboard structures and removal of such by the agency without exception,” he warned.

He also praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, and reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to maintaining a regulated and cooperative advertising environment in Oyo State.

Esho also called on all practitioners to comply fully with the terms of the revalidation process to avoid sanctions and ensure smooth operations going forward.
