According to Akinwande, the fire incident was reported to the agency at exactly 9:00 pm on Wednesday, January 14.

On arrival, the crew discovered that a Volvo truck, with registration number yet to be identified, was loaded with rubber materials and had been engulfed by intense flames.
He said the firefighters swung into action, deploying professional firefighting techniques to control the inferno and rescue a male victim trapped in the incident.
“The firemen launched an articulated attack and displayed professional technical know-how to rescue a male person. The fire was completely extinguished and prevented from spreading to nearby properties,” Akinwande said.
The rescued man was subsequently conveyed to a nearby hospital in Kishi for medical attention.
The agency added that nearby buildings and properties were saved from imminent danger due to the timely intervention of its personnel.

Akinwande attributed the cause of the fire to sparks from the engine compartment of the truck while it was in motion.
He urged truck owners and operators to prioritise fire safety measures, particularly the installation of functional fire extinguishers in their vehicles, noting that early response could prevent minor incidents from escalating into major disasters.
The service also advised members of the public to promptly report fire incidents and provide accurate location details, while reiterating the agency’s emergency contact lines: 08067439223, 0805454353501 or 615 (toll free).
Last Friday, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed when a fire engulfed three vehicles and a community powerhouse at a filling station in the Kara area of the LGA.
