Operatives of Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested two suspected hoodlums and recovered dangerous weapons in Uyo.
The command in a statement on Friday by its Public relations officer DSP Timfon John, said in the early hours of Thursday, operatives while on routine patrol along Idoro Road by Abolin Junction, intercepted two suspicious individuals loitering in a dark spot.

The police spokesperson disclosed that at about 0030hrs, the vigilant patrol team arrested Joshua Benjamin, male, from Mbiaku Ikono Local Government Area and Kingsley Friday Michael, male, from Ikot Ekop, Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects failed to provide any reasonable explanation for their suspicious presence at that hour. They falsely claimed to be security guards but could not present uniforms, means of identification, or any credible source for the firearm found in their possession”.
The Command reiterates its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across Akwa Ibom State and enjoined members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report all suspicious activities to the nearest Police formation.
The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation.

Items recovered from the suspects include one fabricated revolving AK-47 rifle and one jack knife.
