The Kwara State Police Command has activated comprehensive security measures across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities to ensure the safety of lives and property.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi.
In the statement titled ‘Yuletide Security Arrangements: Kwara Police Activate Comprehensive Statewide Deployment’, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Adekimi Ojo, said the deployment was part of proactive policing strategies aimed at sustaining public safety and boosting residents’ confidence during the yuletide period.
“The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Adekimi Ojo, has put in place robust security measures statewide, in furtherance of his commitment to proactive policing and the safety of lives and property, ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
“This proactive deployment affirms the Command’s readiness and dedication to sustaining public safety and confidence during the period,” the statement reads in part.

Ojo explained that the measures were in line with the nationwide security arrangement of the Nigeria Police Force as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
He said “visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols and targeted operations have been intensified around places of worship, markets, motor parks, highways, recreational centres and other public spaces across the state.
“In alignment with the Nigeria Police Force’s nationwide security architecture for the Yuletide season as outlined by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, visibility policing, intelligence-led patrols, and targeted operations have been intensified across places of worship, markets, recreational and event centres, motor parks, highways, and other public spaces.
“Tactical and specialised units are on heightened alert, with sustained surveillance and raids ongoing in identified blackspots and flashpoints. Deployed officers have been directed to remain professional, firm, and courteous in the discharge of their duties,” he said.
The command assured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and security before, during and after the festive season, while urging members of the public to go about their lawful activities without fear.

Ojo also extended yuletide greetings to residents of the state, wishing them a peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year, and calling for unity, peace and progress in Kwara.
“Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant, celebrate responsibly, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or through the command’s control room numbers: 07032069501, 08125275046,” it added.
