Police Recover 75 Mobile Phones Abandoned By Suspects In Lagos

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have recovered 75 mobile gadgets and five laptops abandoned by fleeing suspects during a routine patrol in Ikeja.

According to a statement on Saturday by the Command’s spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, the incident occurred on Sunday, October 5, around 5:30 a.m., when the operatives sighted two suspects carrying large “Ghana Must Go” bags near Allen Roundabout.

The suspects reportedly took to their heels upon sighting the police, leaving the bags behind.

When the bags were searched, the officers discovered 32 iPhones of various models, 38 other smartphones including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor brands, as well as five laptops, smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and several damaged phones suspected to have been stolen.

Commander of the RRS, Shola Jejeloye, said preliminary investigations showed that the items were stolen property abandoned by the suspects.

He advised members of the public who have lost similar devices to visit the RRS Headquarters in Alausa with proof of ownership for identification and collection.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Moshood Jimoh, commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism.

He reiterated the Command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-led policing to ensure safety and security across the state.
