Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has commended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for his unwavering support towards the completion of federal road projects in the state.
Senator Umahi made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to Government House, Port Harcourt. The NSA led a high-level federal delegation, including the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Bashir Bayo Ojulari, for engagements with the Ogoni people under the Presidential Committee on Ogoni Consultations.
The minister specifically highlighted Governor Fubara’s intervention on the East-West Road project, noting how it alleviated financial pressure on the federal government.
“The Eleme-Onne 15 Kilometers by two, that is 30 kilometers with 5 flyovers and 2 bridges, let me thank the Governor of Rivers State for the commitment in seeing that this road project is delivered on time.”
“He offered and took off one full flyover at the Refinery Junction, that is a gift of a son to the father, it is a gift to the President, the man has lessened our burden on that.”

“We had the first meeting with Mr. President, some commitments were made, commitments like the East West road which I am one of the beneficiaries of that road, you can’t go to my place without transversing through that road.”
“Today, at least a section of that road is motorable, you can drive through, in fact you can close your eyes and drive through one lane of it. It’s not just from Eleme Junction, I went to Bayelsa yesterday to pay a condolence Visit to my sister State, after the visit, from Mbiama junction till you get into Port Harcourt, one section of that road is so clean.”
