The Egyptian Football Association has confirmed that the winger will return to Liverpool to continue his treatment and join the team in Ivory Coast if they make it to the semi-final stage.

The statement read: “The Egyptian FA announces that Salah will now travel to England to receive treatment with the hope that he will join the Egyptian national team if it qualifies for the semi-finals.”

The Pharaohs have struggled for form in Ivory Coast with two points from two games and without a win.

Egypt will take on Cape Verde, who have qualified for the next round on Monday night, a win will confirm their place in the second round of the competition.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager, Jürgen Klopp has opened up on the reason Salah is expected to continue his treatment at Anfield.

Klopp said: “That’s the plan. However long he is out, it probably makes sense for everybody to [rehab] with us [in Liverpool] or with our people. That’s the plan. If that’s written in stone already, I don’t know.

“I’m not a doctor, I would say if Egypt qualifies for the final then probably yes. Ivory Coast, I’m sure it’s a wonderful country, but we have no people from us there. They have people who have to take care of the players who are playing.”

Despite Salah’s absence, Liverpool have continued to wax stronger in the Premier League title race, the Reds defeated Bournemouth 4-1 to go five points clear on Sunday night.
