South-East Issues Require Dialogue, Kanu Never Rejected Okorocha, Says Brother

Emmanuel Kanu, brother to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has refuted claims that his brother snubbed former Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over the latter’s move to resolve through dialogue the South-East crisis.

The younger Kanu insisted that such reports are false and misleading even as the pair had disagreement which he said was normal.

He made this clarification on Sunday in a statement made available to THE WHISTLER, following reports circulating on social media and other platforms alleging that Nnamdi Kanu ignored Okorocha’s alleged efforts to seek an amicable resolution to the lingering South-East crisis.

Some of the reports claimed that had Kanu listened to Okorocha’s intervention, the crisis in the South-East could have been resolved peacefully, a development they argued would have prevented Kanu’s eventual incarceration.

However, Emmanuel Kanu dismissed the claims, stressing that while there may have been differences of opinion between his brother and the former governor, such disagreements never amounted to a rejection of dialogue.

According to him, Nnamdi Kanu has always been open to genuine conversations aimed at addressing the complex political and security challenges facing the South-East region.

“Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has never snubbed former governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha,” Emmanuel stated.

“Regardless of any perceived differences,” he said, “Both figures recognized the value of dialogue in addressing the South-East region’s complex issues.

He further maintained that attempts to portray the IPOB leader as unwilling to engage in dialogue were inaccurate and far from the truth, adding that peaceful engagement remains critical to finding lasting solutions to the challenges confronting the South-East.
