The management of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Borno State, has named its newly constructed medical ICT institute after President Bola Tinubu.
The unveiling of the ICT was part of the activities at the 110th general meeting of Chief Medical Directors in Maiduguri, the state capital, held on Tuesday.
The event brought together political figures and key stakeholders in the health sector across the country.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Ahmed Ahidjo, who spoke shortly before the unveiling, said the ICT institute is the first of its kind in the country and capable of enhancing and developing healthcare capacity among practitioners. He also lauded the Federal Government’s contribution towards the facility.
He also stated that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Muhammad Pate, has demonstrated that so much can be achieved.

Stating further, he said, “We appreciate your focus and dedication. As at now, I can say we are getting whatever we asked from the Federal Government. Today, we are commissioning the first medical ICT centre in Nigeria, named after President Tinubu as a mark of appreciation.”
Ahidjo added that about eight projects which span across health facilities, roads, and infrastructures that were inaugurated are named after stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the growth of the hospital.
On his part, Pate highlighted that the health sector is one of the key cardinal point of the Tinubu-led administration.
According to him, President Tinubu in his two years in the office, chose health as a cardinal point in his renewed hope of agenda, and today, the result is already manifesting. The President is using the sector to Unify the country.
He added, “Today, in each of the federal health centres, you will find one or two federal projects completed or going on.”

He further commended the league of the CMDs for their leadership across various hospitals in the country, describing it as pivotal for healthcare service delivery.
“Transformation is taking up and I must say, you the Chief Medical Directors are the ones piloting the change. It is a great pleasure to join you today. It is fitting that the teaching hospital decided to match it with several important projects commissioning including the ICT centre named after President Tinubu.
“So I want to thank the hospital state government and Borno people for the warm reception” Pate said.
The event captured high profile figures like the Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum, his deputy, Usman Kadafur, traditional rulers, members of the state and national assemblies and key government leaders both local and national levels.
